Presenting our Caffeine Free Chai Mix.
I am an avid coffee drinker. I have mentioned it before, but I drink copious amounts of coffee per day. I love the stuff. I’m the type of person that needs a cup of coffee to help me go to sleep. Coffee runs through my veins. I’m also a coffee snob. For those that know me …I don’t do instant. I usually visit friends holding my home made unadulterated pure coffee every time I visit. Some people BYO their wines & beers…I BYO coffee.
Having said all that, I have recently converted to Chai. When I say converted I haven’t and won’t ever stop drinking coffee but if you read my blogs and have seen our website you will notice that I have made a Sticky Chai (which is to die for), but I decided that I needed (and I can’t believe I am even writing this) but I needed a hot drink that was caffeine free. Why? I really don’t know…I just wanted a caffeine free alternative.
I started to look up recipes and there are countless versions out there. I literally tried (and drank) every single version and they were all great. I couldn’t fault any of them, but I wanted a little bit more of one spice and a little less of that spice. And that’s how Zoitsa Homely Produce’s Caffeine Free Chai Mix came into fruition.
A little bit about our Chai Mix. It’s a perfect blend consisting of cinnamon, ground ginger, ground cardamon, black pepper, ground nutmeg and ground cloves. There was a lot of trial and error with regards to the ratios of this mix, but I believe we have perfected it. It’s extremely well balanced.
Our Chai Mix is a Masala Chai. A Masala Chai consists of a “tea” which has added spices and added milk. Whereas a regular chai is just milk and tea.
It has such a spicy and warming taste to it. I like to say that it is a comforting cup of brew. You could add loose leaf tea or a tea bag if you wanted it caffeinated. If you like your tea sweeter you could add agave syrup, rice malt syrup, honey, maple syrup or brown sugar, white sugar, Rapadura sugar, coconut sugar. The possibilities are endless. Add your choice of milk. I have tried it with regular cow’s milk, oat milk, almond milk and soy milk and it tasted different with each, and every milk used. It’s all personal preference, I guess.
I recently decided to add some of this mix into my plain biscuits. I just added 2 teaspoons into the biscuit batter and mixed it well to distribute all through the batter and it was delectable. It is also delish in an iced chai latte!
So, from our kitchen to yours we hope you love it!कृपया अपनी चाय का आनंद लें/ krpaya apanee chaay ka aanand len/Please Enjoy your Chai
