Cinnamon Coffee

Our Cinnamon Coffee has landed and man it is sinfully and decadently delicious!

I came up with this recipe as I wanted to take my coffee up a notch and I wanted a little kick of something in it. I am an avid coffee drinker, and I drink copious amounts of coffee per day, but I was craving something sweet and sort of spicy at the time. I decided to use some ground coffee, sugar and cinnamon and I used the mortar and pestle to ground it down. I then frothed up some milk and voila! Our Cinnamon coffee was created.

The cinnamon really adds a beautiful flavour to a coffee along with when combined with milk it has this beautiful sweetness to it. Our Cinnamon Coffee is already sweet as we have added the right amount of sugar to it but adding the milk really gives it an even creamier sweetness to it.

I tried making it using Cassia cinnamon and then Ceylon cinnamon and opted for the Ceylon version as it made the coffee less bitter and a lot “lighter” in depth. Cinnamon can be extremely strong, so I didn’t want it take over the coffee flavour too much. I added it to a latte/flat white and to a cappuccino and I was happy to see that it naturally froths up. If that makes any sense?

The cinnamon is extremely complimentary and really, REALLY delicious.

From a health perspective cinnamon is known to help reduce hyperglycaemia, increase fat burning and can decrease inflammation. Food is medicine.

We use fairtrade organic ground coffee, white sugar and cinnamon and the three ingredients when milled together make a delicious hot cup of Joe! All you need to do is add 1 tablespoon into a mug, add a little hot milk and whisk until frothy. Add remaining milk, mix well and serve.
