Zoitsa Homely Produce introduces our version of Farm Dust…
I stumbled across this recipe a few months back and I have been playing around in the kitchen trying to come up with a better concept of the stuff, and of course, as always, I wanted to transform it and make it my own.
So, what is Farm Dust I hear you ask? Farm Dust is an Amish seasoning that is packed with pink Himalayan salt, onion, and garlic powders along with rosemary, thyme, oregano, and sweet basil.
When researching this Amish favourite, I saw surprised to see so many versions and different types of ingredients being used. I wanted to keep this seasoning as simple as possible, and I truly believe that the simplicity of the ingredients made our version of Farm Dust a lot more delectable and delicious.
I am so intrigued with Amish cuisine. This cuisine is rich, hearty and I think it’s safe to say they know how to do comfort food well.
This is not only a table salt alternative, it’s also an all-purpose seasoning meaning it can really be used on anything. It can used prior to cooking and after cooking to season your dish. The beauty of this dust is that the uses are endless. Its delightful and enchanting to say the least.
If you have a spare saltshaker lying about then I would highly recommend that you pour our Farm Dust into it and sprinkle on all your meals.
It’s an all-purpose seasoning and can be used on bread, meats, pastas, salads, vegetables, casseroles but my all-time favourite was on corn on the cob. It was to die for!
