Our next candle edition is our exotic Gilded Orchid.
It’s so hard to actually describe the exotic scent that this candle releases. It’s a very deep, rich, and full-bodied scent with notes that is simply put…exotic.
Let’s delve deeper and let me explain perfume notes. When making anything with a perfume/scent/fragrance we call the perfume notes the different layers of scent that you smell. Perfume notes are also classified as to how quickly they evaporate and how long they last.
In a sense there is an architecture of a perfume/scent, and they are represented in a form of a pyramid, called the olfactive pyramid. You may have noticed that people talk about top notes, mid notes, and base notes. The purpose of the olfactive pyramid is what manufacturers use to describe a scent/fragrance.
There are three notes to a perfume/scent/fragrance, and they are The Top Notes, The Mid Notes and The Base Notes.
The top notes are the initial scents that you smell like the first impression of a scent. They tend to be the lightest and most volatile scents. The mid notes (also referred to as middle notes and heart notes) are the “main character” of your scent. They are strong and usually florally based. Then lastly, the base notes. The base notes in a scent forms the foundation on which the entire candle is built and also gives the last impression of the scent. The base notes are usually very deep and full of fragrance.
And that my friends is the short and simply way of how one “reads” or best describes candle scents. Pretty interesting huh?
Back to our Gilded Orchid Candle, I described this candle as exotic and honestly there is no other word for it. I have been burning this candle daily for the last few weeks as the aromas fill our home and make it smell so heavenly.
The top notes in this candle are peach blossoms, apple, and citrus greens. The mid notes are orchid, orange flower, peony petals, rose, lily, violent and jasmine and the base notes are heliotrope, woody and powdery musk.
Our Gilded Orchid Candle is made with pure 100% soy wax which is both natural, kosher, and vegan friendly. There isn’t a skerrick of paraffin, there is absolutely positively no additives, no GMO, and are as natural as can possibly be. Our cotton wicks are made with premium organic cotton along with our bamboo wicks which are made from native American sappy fruit trees. We add no dyes/colours in our wax.
