I love avocado, I love guacamole. If you were to open my fridge you will find a tub of homemade guacamole. I make guacamole every 2-3 days and I live on the stuff.

I add guacamole to an assortment of foods like eggs, bagels, smear it on to my sandwiches and wait for it…I love to dip my sushi handrolls into it. Crazy but so amazingly delicious (you gotta try it).

Other people dip foods into tomato sauce or sweet chilli sauce I dip into my guacamole. My late night snack when I am feeling peckish is to dip some stone ground tortilla chips (lightly salted) into my guacamole.

For the past 3 years I have eaten an avocado a day. I love the texture; I love the creamy buttery flavour that avocadoes have. I love that avocadoes/my guacamole make me feel satiated.

Guacamole can be eaten alone or added into a range of foods. Obviously, it goes hand in hand with Tex-Mex foods like quesadillas, tacos, fajitas, nachos, enchiladas. But have you ever considered adding some to pan fried chicken thighs, to into chicken salads, with devilled eggs and with tuna?

From a health perspective, guacamole/avocadoes are a great addition for a healthy diet, and it is also a great way to increase one’s intake of good nutrients like monosaturated fats, fibre, folate and potassium. Along with avocadoes being a high source of carbs, healthy fats, natural fats and a ton of nutrients. There is some research that documents that eating avocadoes can even help with cholesterol issues and blood sugar levels.

There is some research out there that eating one avocado, or one serving of guacamole a day, is a wonderful way to decrease some belly fat. I’m sure you have heard about it a lot in the news. There still isn’t enough studies to prove this claim but hey I’m going with it.

The trick is to add guacamole into other healthy foods to get the most out of your meal and your calorie intake.

I wanted to know the origins of the guacamole and it was fascinated to read that the first “sighting” of avocadoes were found in Southern Mexico and the exact year cannot be pinpointed but research is pointing to the civilization of the Aztecs in 1325-1521.

There are records indicating that during the 1500’s The Spaniards were introducing avocado mixtures that were extremely similar to guacamole. They then took the creation back to Spain as they were sure that it would be a welcomed dish in their country. Avocadoes at that point in time did not grow naturally in Spain and in time they eventually started their own avocado orchards.

Avocadoes naturally grow in Southern Mexico but here is Australia we have an abundance of avocado orchards in Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia, Victoria, Western Australia and Tasmania. Avocadoes are a perennial fruit meaning that come back or grow year after year after year. In Australia they are available year round because of the widespread and climatically diverse growing regions.

Our Guacamole Seasoning has just the right amount of salt, a dash of heat from the pepper and a smidge of spice from the dried chillies. Extremely tolerable for those that don’t do or like heat and spice, and it’s really so delicious. Simply adda few “pinches” into your guacamole mixture, give it a good mix and enjoy this sensational seasoning. The burst of flavour will astound you!
