Matcha Salt

Want to try something bold? Something different? Something a bit quirky? Want to try something that is not readily available in Australia? Want to try something really Japanesey? Then you gotta try Zoitsa Homely Produce’s – Matcha Salt.

Our matcha salt is a flavour bomb, or better yet, a flavour salt bomb and damn its good!

I’ve mentioned a couple of million of times already that I am a coffee freak! I love coffee and I drink a lot of it each and every day. I average 9-10 cups of coffee a day and I cannot function if I don’t have coffee. I don’t do instant. I do unadulterated, sinfully delicious, coffee. I grind my own beans so it’s as fresh as fresh as can be. What does coffee have to do with Matcha Salt, be patient I’m getting to the point ! LOL.

I started sipping Matcha or Matcha Tea as a way to help boost my brain function. I contracted Covid on the 13th November 2022 and I still am suffering from what they refer to as “brain fog”. I’ve always had a bad memory and I am extremely forgetful, but I what I was suffering from was worse than usual. My GP explained that this was a long-term Covid issue, and she suggested that I started having a cup of matcha every morning. Have I seen a change? Umm…maybe just a tad but this weird fog is still lurking around.

When visiting Japan a few years back I drank a lot of Matcha and if anyone can get their hands on some Matcha Kit Kats for me, I would be forever grateful!

I really love matcha and I really love salt, more so playing around with salt. So, I thought what the hell lets combine the two and see what happens. BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! OMG it was sublime!

Matcha is earthy yet slightly sweet then we added the salt and its honestly a quirky tasting mix. There is this weird “nutty” after taste to it.

For those of you who haven’t tried or know about matcha, matcha is a powerful form of green tea. It comes from the same plant, but it is grown and prepared very differently. The green tea leaves are ground into a powder and since it’s the entire green tea leaf you end up consuming the whole tea leaf. In turn, there are way more benefits to matcha as opposed to your regular green tea.

Our Matcha Salt is what I would refer to as a versatile finishing salt and it adds a KAPOW of flavour and colour to foods. It is glorious on a cocktail rim, it is beautiful on popcorn, hot chips (aka French fries), on fried chicken and fish, add a sprinkling to fried eggs for an extraordinary flavour. Sprinkle some into your salads, over plain rice, mix it in when scrambling eggs, and wait for it….on vanilla ice cream! Oh, dear heavenly God it was so LUSH on ice-cream! (as you can tell I taste test my products on a lot of different foods)

I purchase our Matcha powder from an Australian company that imports it from Japan, Uji (Kyoto)Japan to be precise. The Japanese mill it down to a fine powder using traditional stone mills. I prefer that it is imported as I wanted it to be as authentic as possible and also because of major factors such as pollution levels and soil contamination is a lot lower than other tea producing countries. Japan also tests their matcha for both heavy metals and radiation. It’s also organically certified by both the ACO and JAS (Australian and Japanese Organic Certification Boards).

We hope its enjoyed in your home as much as it is in ours.
