Some call it a Schnitzel, us Aussies call it a Schnitty, call it what you will I think everyone loves a good Schnitty!
We debut Zoitsa Homely Produce’s – Schnitzel Seasoning. This glorious seasoning is a firm family favourite not only within my family but also to my taste testers who have really gone gonzo crazy mad for it.
It’s packed with lots of herbs and spices and its darn delicious. It consists of sea salt, celery salty, coconut sugar, paprika, rice flour (milled by me) onion powder, chilli, black pepper, garlic powder, nutmeg, coriander, cumin and cardamon. Yes, all those ingredients sound extremely whacky when placed together but when combined the result is …luscious.
As with most of our products our seasonings and blends (if not all) they are not only for a specific dish/food. They can be used in a multitude of foods. Just let your imagination run wild with them, get creative in the kitchen, and wait to hear the reaction of your family and friends.
We have tested Zoitsa Homely Produce’s – Schnitzel Seasoning in a multitude of ways and in different foods, and the end result has always come out spectacular. We don’t just throw things together and wish for a good product or outcome. There is a lot more to it. Our kitchen becomes like a “test kitchen” where we cook with our products and develop them further if required.
The humble schnitzel as we all know I’m sure originated in Vienna Austria and the dish quickly spread throughout not only Austria but Germany. It is a traditional staple not only in Austrian and German cuisine but throughout the world. I don’t think there is a pub in Australia that doesn’t have a Schnitty on the menu. There is a debate that indicates that the Israelis were believed to have served the first ever schnitzel. The Austrians use veal (aka Weiner Schnitzel), the Germans traditionally use pork, and the Middle East came up with the chicken schnitzel.
It’s a simple seasoning to use you just simply add two tablespoons to flour and mix to incorporate, then firstly dredge your protein of choice or vegan schnitzel/tofu slabs in egg (vegan option use chickpea flour, non-dairy milk of choice and a touch of salt) coat in panko breadcrumbs or everyday breadcrumbs and then shallow fry.
Our Schnitzel Seasoning can also be used to season a whole chicken, can be added to potato wedges, to roast vegetables, on a roast lamb and the best thing to use it on ….sprinkled over a grilled cheese sandwich!
