My obsession with salt…any salt, is real and this is one of my firm favourites. So with having said that we Introduce Zoitsa Homely Produce’s Seasoning Salt.
I came up with this recipe one day when I wanted to make corn on the cob in my air fryer and the results were absolutely positively delish! Our Seasoning Salt consists of salt, black pepper, sweet paprika, onion powder and garlic powder.
Our Seasoning Salt is delicious sprinkled lightly over meats and vegetables prior to cooking/grilling. It is divine on roasted chicken, potatoes, eggs, steak really on anything.
There is a lot of salt in this blend so those of you who are watching their salt/sodium intake please use very sparingly.
It is such a really tasty blend and one that I’m sure will be well loved in your home. Use it like you would use your everyday table salt. It’s not intended to be used any more than your regular table salt. Like I always say – use it sparingly! It honestly has the perfect amount of flavour, and it is ideal for adding into any dish.
I was intrigued to know more about salt. So, I spent hours reading up on it. I wanted to know why we use salt in our cooking, and I was fascinated to learn that people generally crave foods that have a “salty” flavour to them. Salt is known to enhance other flavours, more so savoury notes. Salt balances sweetness and helps to supress other flavours like bitterness. Salt enhances the positive sensory attributes of foods. It makes food taste better.
Salt contains the element sodium which is an essential nutrient that’s needed by our bodies (obviously in small amounts). There are major benefits of salt according to modern medicine and they are the aid the balance of electrolytes and fluids, salt carries nutrients into our cells, it regulates acid base balance, it regulates blood pressure and secretion of gastric acid. Just to name a few. It’s safe to say that salt plays a crucial role in maintaining human health, but like everything in moderation. Interesting stuff right?
I’d love to hear how you use it and how you have experimented with it! Please let us know!
